Lalla’s Music Adventures: Welcome to Piano Town is a story-based piano-key discovery adventure created especially for the very young pianist. Rather than beginning with staff notation, Book 1 helps children first become familiar with the geography of the piano keyboard—the patterns they can see, hear and explore for themselves.

Guided by Lalla and her magical golden key, young learners travel through Piano Town and meet seven memorable friends: Cat-C, Doggy-D, Eddy-E, Front Door-F, Granny-G, Anna-A and Back Door-B. The groups of two and three black keys become easy-to-recognise landmarks, helping children discover and remember the locations of the seven white-key names: C, D, E, F, G, A and B.

The story is designed to be experienced with the child at the piano. Gentle “Join Lalla at the piano” invitations encourage listening, looking, touching, finding, comparing and exploring as part of the adventure, allowing children to learn through meaningful musical experiences rather than written theory alone.

Through ten adventures, children gradually learn to recognise the little house formed by the group of two black keys and the big house formed by the group of three, before discovering how the Piano Town pattern repeats across the entire keyboard.
