The Grade 2 Music Literacy Workbook 2027 is a structured, learner-friendly resource designed to extend music-literacy knowledge and skills while preparing learners for the requirements of the Trinity College London Grade 2 Theory syllabus.

Building on foundational music-literacy learning, Grade 2 concepts and skills are introduced progressively and reinforced through regular practice and application. Previously learned material is revisited alongside new work, helping learners develop an increasingly secure and connected understanding of music.

The workbook goes beyond simply practising examination questions. Learners are encouraged to understand, recognise and apply musical concepts and to connect theoretical knowledge with the music they hear, read and perform.

Includes a Weekly Planner

The workbook includes a weekly planner, providing teachers and learners with a clear pathway through the Grade 2 syllabus and helping them organise teaching, practice and examination preparation throughout the year.

Each week follows four balanced components:

This Week → Practice → Music in Context → Homework

This Week introduces the music-literacy knowledge and skills that form the focus of the week.

Practice provides structured opportunities to consolidate new concepts, apply knowledge and develop confidence.

Music in Context connects theoretical knowledge with meaningful musical examples, helping learners recognise how the concepts they are studying function in music.

Homework reinforces current learning while systematically revisiting previously introduced material. This cumulative approach helps learners retain knowledge and develop greater fluency over time.

Building on Grade 1

At Grade 2 level, learners continue to strengthen their foundational music-literacy skills while developing greater fluency, accuracy and independence.

The workbook supports this progression by connecting new learning with previously established knowledge rather than treating Grade 2 as an isolated set of examination topics.

More Than Examination Preparation

Although the workbook is carefully aligned with the Trinity College London Grade 2 Theory syllabus, its purpose extends beyond examination preparation.

The aim is to develop secure and transferable music-literacy skills that support practical music-making, further theoretical study and increasingly independent musical understanding.

The workbook is suitable for individual music lessons, private studios, schools and supported independent learning.
